Sta. Ana 1983 (Section:Quezon) Reunion 2009

For more than two decades, I never saw any of my high school classmates save for one or two that I would bump into in some places. This was why I had no interest in going to last year's 25th year grand homecoming reunion. But this year, the very people I haven't seen for more than two decades started appearing out from woodwork hehehehe! I could almost not believe it.

Yahoo group messages and text messages were exchanged, overseas calls burned the telephone lines, money transfers were effected (Thank you so much to Antonio) and finally, section Quezon of Sta. Ana National High School Batch 1983 had their reunion.

Class Quezon's reunion was made after the Grand Alumni Homecoming was held at our school. The day coincided with one of our classmates' birthday, Rizalina (born on Rizal day) and here's one of the videos I took.. ..

I had such a blast that I am really looking forward to another get together this coming March 2010. Two of our classmates from overseas will be coming home. The event promises to be an exciting, even more bombastic happening than what we had yesterday.

To my high school classmates, thank you so much for the fun and friendship. It was like we did not get old at all. Mga cute pa rin :)

Sunday Stealing #26 The Final Week of 2009 Meme

Today we ripped this meme off a blogger named Nik Dirga at the blog Spatula Forum. Nik is an American journalist who now lives in New Zealand with his kiwi wife and son. He does not say where he found the meme. But, it was probably stolen there as well. So, of course, that will be as far as we go. Tracing back our theft's thieves might take some time. Link back to us at Sunday Stealing!

Litratong Pinoy#77 Regalo (Gift)

The priest said one midnight mass.."Often, when we hear the word "Christmas", the first things that come to most of our minds are food and drinks. Others may think of getting gifts like new clothes and shoes or even toys or any other things. We often forget that these things are not important, that the true meaning of Christmas is to celebrate the birth of Jesus Christ."

Pilipino:

Photobucket

And this made me wonder...What if there is no Jesus Christ? What if we don't have Christmas to celebrate about? What if He was not born to save us? Would we have value at all? Would all these Christmas celebrations be important at all?

I hope we don't forget what is Christmas all about. It is the gift of God.

Pilipino:
May halaga ba tayo?

Looking for Asus Eee PC1005HA

I am getting frustrated. I am too excited to wait but wait is what I am doing. Can't help it, anyway.

I sold my Acer laptop. It has a sentimental value to me because it's my first laptop. But, I need a lappy that is lighter. A netbook for my travels. So, I checked out the stores. A friend recommended MSI U100 netbook and I was about to buy it. With its less than 2 kilo weight and 1GB memory, I was ready to roll. Samsung N120 was the 2nd choice, but lo and behold, it is not available in my country.

Then, I saw a 2GB memory netbook, a new thingy right off the assembly line. Among 1GB netbooks, this one stands out for its 2GB and among other features. The new Asus Eee PC1005HA. I asked if it's available in blue. Oh yes, it was. I went to the store, asked the saleslady for the item, she opened her box and ooops...it's not the 2GB but the 1GB. They ran out of stock. I went down from nirvana. Now, am looking for Asus Eee PC1005HA.

If you guys know where can I get the Asus Eee PC1005HA 2GB or any 2GB netbook, please tell me.

Ruby Tuesday#30 Christmas Lights of Mana House

It has become a yearly thing for me and my family to get to Mana Antique House and check out their Christmas lights. It is by far the most extravagant and awesome display of Christmas lights that I have seen for several years now in Davao City. Every year has different theme and every year the crowd that goes there is increasing.

Here is one of the photos I took the previous year:

Christmas, Mana House, Davao

I shall be posting in my next post the pictures I took yesterday of Mana House. For this year, their theme is the "under the sea" Christmas.

They Are Getting Old

Tomorrow is my father’s birthday. Each time one of my parents have their birthdays nowadays, I can’t help but pray that they’ll stay healthy and that they’ll live longer. They are getting old and I worry more about their health and well-being. I realize that time with them is more precious now and I can only pray that God will always be with them.

I still want to take them to travel abroad even just in nearby Hongkong or Singapore but my mother is not having it. She is now afraid to take the plane. I used to think that my mother’s the strongest and bravest woman in the world but now she’s showing more vulnerability as she grows older. She is now more afraid to travel long distance and more apprehensive about things.

I wonder how will I be when it’s my time to reach their age. I hope I will still be active, brave and vibrant. God willing.

Photo Hunt#69: Fast

Time flies so fast. It seems like yesterday that I took this picture at Mana House and then, it's Christmas again. Time is like water in our hand. It just slips through no matter how hard we try to hold on to it.

I do hope you've all accomplished what you've set out to accomplish this year. Personally, I've accomplished some but they fell short of what I wanted to do. I shall try to work harder this year. God willing. Merry Christmas, everyone!

Christmas Party

We’ll be having our division’s Christmas Party tonight. There will be a short programme and some games and hopefully, some dancing. Some people are planning to get out of our party as soon as they can as Christmas sales are ongoing on all shopping malls. As for me, I would prefer to wait for the after Christmas sales. Based on experience, there’re more fun discounts during that time. I’ll keep my fingers crossed for that

Where Is Tiger Woods?

Where is Tiger Woods? That's what I have been hearing and seeing on the news lately. Who cares. The guy's having troubles. So what. His alleged infidelity is making cracks in his marriage. Then, only Tiger Woods can fix that. Not the nosey paparazzi.

I am just so amazed by how there is too much attention is being given to Tiger Woods' liaisons with other women. The paparazzi is going overdrive again. Like it's the first time they've heard of a celebrity dallying with other parties aside from their spouses.

Frankly, I'd rather hear what happened about the Dubai bailout or the most recent Mayon Volcano eruption. I have an interest in the Dubai bailout because I have some friends who're working there and Dubai's economy state is greatly affecting these people. Of course, the news of the Dubai bailout is also in a way affects our economy as there are a lot of Filipino overseas workers there.

Can't these nosey people leave Tiger Woods and pursue some more meaningful news? Hope so.

Ruby Tuesday#29 Coffee Cat Cafe

It was a relief to see that we were too early for the evening crowd when we arrived in Coffee Cat Cafe that night. Coffee Cat Cafe is situated along Torres St., Davao City. It is one of the newly-opened cafes that have sprouted ubiquitously all over the city this year.

Photobucket

We were able to choose our table and took our time in getting our orders. Instead of the usual order of coffee, I decided to try their yogurt icecream brand, Yogo.

I wanted the original taste but the crew was persuasive enough to get me to order their green tea flavor. With a small sized cup and two toppings (mango and oreo cookies), I shelled out P110.00 for that yogurt. Penny-pincher me was thinking at that time that I could have had four to five same sized yogurt cups if I bought them at the grocery store. But heck, we only live once might as well try the P110.00 yogurt :)

Photobucket

It tasted good but the original flavor tasted better. We were able to compare because one of my friends ordered the original flavored yogurt.

All in all, Coffee Cat Cafe is a cozy place to unwind. It is one of the more popular hang-outs of young professionals and college students which thankfully came in later that night while we were there. I have yet to taste the cafe's coffee but had a bite of their banana muffin which I am not digging.

The best banana muffin I have tasted so far was from Angel's Log in Malaybalay, Bukidnon. But that's another story....

Sunday Stealing: The 6 Ws Meme

Who...

Is easy to love? God

Do you just wanna smack? A friend who seems not to know the priorities in life.

Do you trust? My friends and my mother.

Do you talk to when you're alone? Myself. If I get tired talking to myself, I write on my journal.

What...

Dangerous things do you do while driving? I don't drive.

Are you allergic to? I don't have any.

Is Satan's last name? Don't know that..

Is the freakiest thing in your house?... Our gate, it's about to fall off and nobody's repairing it.

When...

Is it time to turn over a new leaf? I hope, this coming year. Like Tiger Woods, it's time to self-evaluate.

Will you be all that you can be? Soonest, I hope because I'm not getting any younger.

Is enough enough? When things become too inconvenient and intolerable.

Do you go to the dark side? No, am afraid of it.

Where...

Are your pants? They are in the closet.

Is your last will and testament? I don't have one.

Is your junk food stash? It's in the kitchen but it's empty right now. I've been trying to avoid putting something on it.

Is Carmen Sandiego? Who is she? Is she related to San Diego, California?

Why...

Was the Lone Ranger alone? Because he likes to be alone.

Was The Scarlet Letter scarlet? Am sure there's an explanation to it but am not doing any research.

Are musicians sexy and plumbers not? Sexiness is in the mind. Truth is, I don't find musicians sexy at all.

Are there no seat belts on school buses? Yeah, I wonder why too.

Would you...

Swim the English Channel for a doughnut and coffee? If not that, what? Try a million dollars or even two.

Forgive someone who deliberately hurt you? I may forgive but I don't usually easily forget.

Rather believe a lie if it hurt you less than the truth? Truth may hurt, but I'd rather have it than a lie.

You still be alive if you were sucked out of an airplane window? Nah..

Photo Hunt#68 Something Undesirable

Cagayan de Oro City is one of the fastest growing cities in Northern Mindanao. It is no surprise that migrants from other neighboring areas as well as nationalities from other countries have desired to reside in this city.

It's been years since the last time I visited Cagayan de Oro City and it's just amazing to see its growth. The infrastructure has improved a lot and there are more newly constructed buildings. However, one thing that I find undesirable and unsightly are these electrical posts with spaghetti like cables intertwined haphazardly, they are almost unbelievable. I pity anybody who'll have to fix those electrical lines because those lines really really look hazardous.

Manny Pacquiao vs Floyd Mayweather, Jr.

Negotiations are ongoing for the Manny Pacquiao vs Floyd Mayweather, Jr. bout this coming year. I am quite excited about it but at the same time, apprehensive for the Pacman. Mayweather will go out of his retirement just to fight for the current best pound for pound boxer in the world. For sure, he wouldn't want to get embarrassed. Anyway, I'll keep on eye on this one.

In the meantime, Manny Pacquiao's got a lot in his hands nowadays. His movie starrer, Wapakman, is included in the 2009 Metro Manila Film Festival. He's planning to run for public office and his birthday is coming in a few days time.

Reunions

Me and my friends at the office have a group, we call it Happy Hearts Club. Since we were mostly singles years ago, we used to do things together..vacations, parties, shopping, travel and whatever things we fancied.

Christmas time was usually our reunion time and for years, we did just that. We exchanged christmas gifts, eat til we were all bloated and partied til dawn. But things inevitably change. Marriage, kids, change of job assignments, migration, schedules and all sorts of things prevented us to get together annually as we had planned.

Finally, after years of delaying, we’ll be having our Christmas get together this coming Friday.

Another reunion that I am looking forward to nowadays is my high school reunion. We haven't had one since we graduated. We hosted last year's grand homecoming but I was on travel when it happened and most of my classmates did not even attend. Two weeks ago, I reconnected with some of my high school classmates via Facebook and yahoo groups. We're getting updated with each other's lives and we'll be having a get-together this coming February or March, in time for the coming home of our high school valedictorian. Aside from that, I am seriously thinking of attending this year's grand homecoming which will be on the December 30th.

I am really excited for both dates. Of course, the camera will tag along.

My wishes are like answers by a beauty queen contestant during the question and answer portion of a beauty contest. Here they are…

My wishes for this Christmas is that may the Philippines have a peaceful and clean election this coming year. I wish that justice be given immediately to the victims of the Maguindanao massacre.

And I wish that Philippines will develop more because we are already being left behind by our Asian neighbors like Malaysia.

Of course, I wish that we won’t forget that Christmas is the time to celebrate the birth of Jesus and not just a celebration of material things.

The Quiet Of No Streetlights

It’s past midnight and all I can hear is the balut vendor honking his horn to attract customers. Aside from that, all is quiet now. I really like it.

I like it that our street has no streetlights nowadays. Kids who run around the neighborhood to play during evenings go home earlier. There are no teenagers dating in some corners. The neighborhood drunkards decided to relocate their drinking sessions to some place well lighted. The karaoke singers decided that the dark street is not a good place to croak their voices out. And last but not the least, I can now actually see the stars each time I look up to the skies. Yey!

Music Monday#32 Affairs of the Heart by Rick Springfield

Rick Springfield is part of my college days' fantasies. Every afternoon, I would rush over to my cousins to watch Rick Springfield's music videos on MTV and we would collectively swoon over him. Here is one of his music videos that I really like:

Heart in my mouth, pulse in my head
Mercury rising into the red
The smell of your skin can light up all the fires in me

Hungry to touch, I'm eager to please
Out of control and I hand you the keys
Every night I am burning to make love to you

But don't try to tell me you think it's all physical
It goes much deeper than that
You ought to know it's an affair of the heart

[Chorus:]It's an affair of the heart
It's an affair of the heart
Have a little blind faith, believe
It's an affair of the heart

When we make love, it's a passionate thing
You shudder and shake, sink your teeth in my skin
I almost believe you were made to be played by my hands

And you got the power, it amazes me still
How you play my emotions with consummate skill
I don't have to look any further than into your eyes

So don't try to tell me you think it's just physical
It goes way deeper than that
You better know it's an affair of the heart
[Chorus]

Don't try to tell me you think it's all physical
It goes much deeper than that
You ought to know it's an affair of the heart
[Chorus]

You better know it's an affair of the heart
It's an affair of the heart
You better know it's an affair of the heart
[Chorus]
