The Proposal

This movie had me rolling on the floor. Sandra Bullock never lost her quirky, funny persona even after a long hiatus and Ryan Reynolds is just the perfect, cutely handsome partner for Sandra to get the viewers' funny bones working.

I have never seen a naked Sandra Bullock before and I thought I will never will but in this movie, Sandra Bullock showed up in her birthday suit save for a teeny-weeny towel covering her front. She looked quite buffed and at the same time, sexy here. Accidentally, the scene is one of the funniest scenes in the movie.

Litratong Pinoy#61 Proteksyon (Protection)

We were getting boisterous while taking pictures each time a beautiful float came along that is why Mr. Policeman was already giving us an evil eye; his eyes softened when he saw this beautiful lady on the float though. I think, it was just too hard to provide protection if there were just too many people around.

Translation:

That is why, some owners of the floats provided their own protection because some people just cannot help but touch the floats. These pictures were taken during the Kadayawan festival which happens every 3rd week of August. Do come here in Davao this coming August. See ya!

Translation:
Kitakits!

My Favorite Books

I was just done bloghopping and I found Topazhorizon. She is having a moleskine notebook giveaway and all I have to do is answer this question to qualify: What is your favorite book and why? Am a sucker for books as I might have mentioned here and right now, I need to stay away from any bookstore as I still have a lot of books still in their plastic store bags waiting to be read. Anyway, here is my list of 10 favorite books, right off the bat:

1. To Kill A Mockingbird by Harper Lee
2. Da Vinci Code by Dan Brown
3. Angels and Demons by Dan Brown
4. Twilight saga book series by Stephenie Meyer
5. Harry Potter books by J.K. Rowling
6. ABNKKBSNPLAko? by Bob Ong
7. Rizal Without The Overcoat by Ambeth Ocampo
8. 1000 Places To See Before You Die by Patricia Schultz
9. The Audacity of Hope by Barack Obama
10. Youngblood book series by Inquirer books

The list could get very long but as you can see, I do not have a particular preference for books; well, as long as it was not a horror one. I might be spending too much time here on the internet but there is no replacement for the smell and feel of paper and ink as I turn the page while I read. Besides, one can travel anywhere with reading without leaving one's chair or bed. Happy reading, everyone!

Music Monday#13 Let Me by DJ Koo

I wish I can find the mp3 of this song, Let Me by DJ Koo. I really like this techtonik dance, a dance that is quite popular in Europe and is already in Korea. I am trying to learn the dance steps and oh boy, it's rather fast. I first saw it when DJ Koo performed this with Hwang Bo which I believe is a better version but I cannot find a better quality of the video so am using this one.

Food is ready for the Gawad Kalinga volunteers. Plastic serving spoons were in placed. Disposable utensils on hand ready for "battle"...

But seemed like the utensils were just for show :D It was easier to use bare hands especially if you were trying to get the grilled fish wrapped in aluminum foil.

See...eating barehanded! Tables and chairs were not even necessary. We can still eat!

Litratong Pinoy#60 Nakakakilabot (Frightening)

Slimy and sticky when you look at it.. (Madulas at malagkit kung tingnan)...

Even more so, if you hold it. In fact, it can be frightening. Good thing, this one is a non-sting type.

But these ones below are and that is why even if with beautiful lighting effects, I still find those jellyfishes frightening.

Music Monday#12 Sweet Baby by Stanley Clark & George Duke

I always love this song no matter what mood I am in so I am sharing this. Enjoy!

When I think about your lovin'
The sunday evenings, the fun we used to share
Looking through the memories in my mind
Since I've laughed and cried and thought it over
Now I realize that it's never over only set aside

chorus:
Oh it's you sweet baby
I will never be free from your embrace
Sweet baby
Only hopin' it's not too late to try again
It's you sweet baby
Ever always been captured by your smile, sweet baby
I will always be right there by your side
Right by your side

Lyin' here alone I'm dreamin'
My mind keeps wonderin' why
My thoughts are only you
Wanderin' through the memories in my mind
How could love so real have gone so empty
I just keep wanderin' why
Well I ever find the love we share

Oh it's you sweet baby
Though we've had such a long hard road to climb, sweet baby
Only hopin' it's not too late to try again
It's you, sweet baby
Won't you try and believe in what I say, sweet baby
I will always be right there by your side, right by your side
(chorus)

Swimwear For Our Coming Vacation

Our scheduled vacation is drawing near and I am quite excited about it. I already bought a new camera, Canon G10, and I really cannot wait to use it. I hope I could take lots of good pictures considering that the said camera received positive buyers’ reviews. I really want to compare this new camera’s performance with my old one’s.

Our planned destination is on the northern parts of the country. I really hope that we could have some really good weather on those vacation dates as me and my friends will likely spend some time in the beach and a well-known water park popular for its surf boarding facilities. Oh, to feel the sand and soak in the water and oh yes, I do hope I could actually stand on the surfboard for a few seconds or hopefully, for a few minutes without smacking my face flat on the waters!

I am now thinking if I should buy myself new beachwear aside from replacing my missing aqua shoes for our ever-present vacation pictorials. It has really been awhile since I bought myself a swimwear, as I usually prefer to wear shorts and simple tops when going to the beach. However, the last time that I went to the beach with my family, I saw some really nice swimwear worn by women and they really looked good in them.

I really envy women who can actually wear a sexy swimwear or a sexy lingerie, some even do not have the body to boast for but because of their confidence, they can actually get away wearing such sexy things. Like men, I can appreciate women who can actually flaunt their curves publicly without many qualms. I usually do not have much confidence in wearing one being so conscious about my flaws; but there were times that I would like to try that. Sometimes I think, all that will be needed would be a little derring-do. Of course, a well-designed swimwear is a must to get away with it all. I really do not need to have a body like Heidi Klum to get into some sexy swimwear. Additionally, working out regularly and a little diet will definitely help in the confidence department.

Music Monday#11 Love In the Ice by DBSK

Nowadays, I am slowly discovering Asian pop most especially Korean pop via youtube. My current favorite bands nowadays are: SS501 and DBSK (Tohoshinki).

Here is the song entitled Love In The Ice by DBSK that I find really awesome. Never mind if it's hard to understand (there's the English subtitle, after all) but I really like the song and DBSK did it beautifully.

Sunday Stealing#5

Today we ripped this meme off from two different blogs. For the first time since we have syndicated Sunday Stealing we have stolen two memes today. (During its exclusive run for its first two years on WTIT: The Blog, Bud did this many times.) Our first five questions were ripped from a blogger and blog named Pikohan (avatar above). Pikohan explains that she was tagged to do the meme by Lilly Flower and Koretetsu. Our second meme has 11 phrases for you to complete. It was stolen from Stacie at her blog Stacie’s Madness. She does not explain where she got it. But, it was probably stolen there as well. So, of course, that will be as far as we go. Tracing back our theft's thieves might take some time. PhotoHunt#48 Garbage

You would think that waterlilies end up in waterways and eventually, part of the garbage. Wrong. This dress along with the accessories (bag, sunglasses, earrings and sandals) were made of waterlilies and they did not end up in the garbage bin. Instead, it was worn in fashion shows years ago and was such a big hit. Nowadays, it is on display inside Museo Dabawenyo (Davao Museum).

What Are You Concerned About Nowadays?

I went to watch Hannah Montana last night and there is this line there that I really like, "Life is a climb. Enjoy the view." Whosoever says that life is easy must be way out of the real world especially nowadays. There are a lot of things to be concerned about: mortgages, job security, global warming, recession, bills and etcetera. However, life need not be dreary. We can make it easier but being involved and active, by helping others, by keeping a positive attitude and always having a smile. It would be such a regret if we let ourselves get saddled with problems as I think God never meant life to be disappointing. Only man and actions can do this.

Oh, by the way, I really like Miley Cyrus' song, The Climb. Really cool!

The Beach

The beach has always been the place that calms me down. There is something about the sound of the waves, the touch of the sand on my feet, the wind messing up my hair and the vastness of the sea making me feel smaller that somehow make things feel lighter and make my head clearer. These are the reasons why the beach is my all time favorite place to be especially when I am feeling burdened or overstressed.

Nowadays, there are times especially when it gets unbearably hot I wish I lived with my family near the beach as we used to when I was in high school. Back then, it was just so easy to take a dip especially during hot days because the beach was just a few minutes walk away. Back then, it was just a matter of changing clothes to swimwear and we were all set to cool off and have fun unlike nowadays that we usually have to plan out our beach outing.

I remember during summer days in high school that I was at my most tanned or as my mother put it “burned” appearance due to my almost daily beach escapades. Unlike other girls that were busy rummaging through stores looking for whitening lotions and sometimes getting too paranoid avoiding even the lightest touch of sunshine, I relished being well-tanned and would just tend to look more for suntan lotion at the stores to protect myself from being sunburned. Actually, it was my mother who made sure that I had sufficient sun protection because I was usually too carefree and raring to go to the beach that she had to constantly remind me to put on proper sun protection.

Anyway, if I could fulfill my childhood dream of owning a property by the beach before I retire, I shall be one beach-happy soul.

Music Monday#10 Nobody by Wonder Girls

The first performance that I saw of this song was an impromptu performance by two of its members in the Korean reality show, We Got Married. The melody got stuck in my mind for a few days. I was quite surprised to see it performed in a Sunday local TV show by our local talents. In turned out, Wonder girls, have started promoting this song in the US and is starting to get popular there. Anyway, here's the English version of the song. I still like the Korean version as it is more catchy:)

Litratong Pinoy#57 Kandado (Lock)

"Mister, make sure this is locked." That was we requested to the cable car operator of Ocean Park, Hongkong. Huh, it is not a joke to be hanging on a cable.

Pilipino:
"Ma, siguraduhing ninyo sanang nakakandado nang maiigi ito ha." Iyon ang bilin namin sa "operator" ng cable car sa Ocean Park, Hongkong. Aba, hindi biro ang nakalambitin sa kable ha.
It was fun riding the cable car and the view was beautiful; even more so because we passed by the mountainside and we can see the sea on the other side. It was quiet out there and it was really good that the cable car was locked as it was windy that time.

Pilipino:
