Looking for Web Host and More

I went to a birthday party of a friend’s son the other day. The mom of the cute and playful birthday boy was instrumental in getting me started in blogging, I can say that she is our blogging godmother. Along with other officemates, we started our individual blogs months ago and eventually, earned slowly.

Our blogging godmother advised us that better opportunities are more available to bloggers who have their own domain name. I have been thinking of finding my own domain name and at the same time, I have also been looking for some cheap web hosting since I started blogging early this year but I can’t seem to make up my mind to finalize it.

So, here I am, checking out web hosting reviews to find the right web host for my blog. I have been asking around to other website developers and bloggers. Some of them have given confusing answers and right now, I am still in the same predicament as I was when I started; am still using sub-domains for my two blogs.

It is a good thing that I found this site that has the Top 10 Web Hosting reviews and also their articles that discusses a lot about domains, web hosting and a whole more. This is really quite helpful for a newbie like me who sometimes feel overwhelmed by all these high-tech mumbo jumbo.

Eating Healthy Food

Do you try to eat healthy food? I try to especially now that I am getting older and the cells are known for getting slower in regenerating. However, there are times that I digress or just get plain lazy and then, I try to make up after. I do wish that I have the real discipline to maintain it however expensive a lot of healthy foods can be compared to than junk foods (although that is not a good enough reason to be not eating healthy. Anyway, here’s Dneero conversation about eating healthy food that you might like to try.

Job Interviews

I have had my share of good and bad interviews all through my working life, a lot of them I conducted myself and in some cases, I was the interviewee. Some were just forgettable and some were memorable but not necessarily good. Some interviewers are comfortable to interact with that it gives a feeling that you were just having a good conversation over a cup of coffee while others, can be very rudely inquisitive to the point of getting arrogant that all you would want to do is walk out of the room.

Anyway, there’s this 5-minute survey about your interview experience, whether good or bad and whether you were the interviewer or interviewee. I already took it and I find it quite interesting. You can Click here to take the survey. It gets more interesting as you might have the chance to win an Apple iPod touch.

One thing that stands out for me about interviews is that you can gauge the people you are going to work with and how will they fit in to your working life in the way they handle or interact with you in the interview session.

I believe that, the interviewer has the advantage in an interview session, as he/she is the one trying to evaluate if the interviewee is the best candidate for the position being considered and it is the interviewee’s job to convince or persuade that he/she is.

Of the most recent interview I have ever had, one stand out as it was very unpleasant. It had me thinking of walking out right there and then. One of the panel interviewers was rude to the point of being arrogant. He may have been trying to clarify an issue but the way he threw the question, it was totally uncalled for. He could have forgotten that he was in an office environment and nuances are quite important and could get magnified from a more subdued office environment’s point of view. I came out feeling verbally harassed and battered.

Litratong Pinoy #15 Ayoko

Translation: We lived in Manila for several years and each time there was a typhoon, I would pray that it would go away soon. Because typhoons can really ruined everything each time it would arrive and experiencing it each time was always scary. It seemed that the wind and the rain were so angry, it destroyed everything on its path. I was really thankful that we transferred in Mindanao because we do not have typhoons here. By the way, the picture was taken when we were traveling in Hongkong last 2001. Wow! We were shocked to know that the Typhoon Signal was #15 while in the Philippines, we only have typhoons up to #5. What kind of typhoon was #15? Can it actually get the buildings flying? Thank goodness, nothing of that sort happened.

Getting The Best From Online Casino

I know some people will really like these US online casinos. I have relatives and friends who just really like going to the casinos. Along with some of their friends, they even make it a point to go every other month or quarterly. I was able to go with them a few times and I have seen how they enjoyed their time there. However, there were times they wished they do not have to travel to get there or go out of the house, just to do their casino thing.

When I found out this USA online casinos, I know they will have so much fun as they had with the casinos they went to; plus, they can choose the Top Online casinos each time they want to play but would rather stay inside the house.

The best thing about this site is that latest online casino bonuses, news, promotions and casino coupons can be easily found there. Further, it does not matter what casino player level you are as they have strategies, guides and tips for the games such as baccarat, blackjack, video poker, roulette, and a whole lot more. For beginners like me, their rules & tips for the offered games, and their online casino guide will help out along the way. For casino aficionados, check out all-casino-bonuses.com and have fun!

La.Pi.S.#6 - Breakfast

There are times that no matter how good or complicated or exotic the food is, I could not care less. There are times that all we want is the food that comforts us, that reminds us of good times, of being home, of smelling the food being prepared while we were waking up when we were kids.

For me, I remember when both my parents would wake up in the early mornings to prepare our breakfast. I even remember my paternal grandmother’s dawn brewing of her native coffee (that’s another story here) to warm the grumbling early morning stomach and afterwhich, the smell of bulad (bisaya for dried salted fish) being fried just never fails to penetrate the foggy brain of sleepiness.

The best breakfast for me are these: newly-cooked rice with sweet-smelling pandan leaves, fried bulad(dried salted fish) and mongo beans cooked with coconut milk and pork. Don't forget the dip for the bulad, squeezed native lemon(lemonsito) or vinegar with sliced raw garlic. Bliss!

Here's another yummy breakfast to start your day right.

Litratong Pinoy#14 Mithi

Translation:

I have been longing to take my parents along in some of my travels, even just for a while. It has been so long since they have traveled long distance as their most recent travels were usually just by the nearby beach.

I remember that the first time they went to Baguio City a few years ago, they liked it so much. So, it will be wonderful to travel there with them again. My mother likes flowers and for sure she would Camp John Hay for its colorful flowers and of course, the chilly weather.

Will Be Walking And Commuting

Kadayawan Festival is now ongoing and we are going to have our long weekend starting tomorrow, August 22, until Monday, August 25, 2008. I got lazy the past 2 Kadayawans and did not do much; for this year, I am planning to go around the city, take pictures and pictures and savor the festival. I would love to have a car to go around though but my friend’s car is in need of auto body repair after figuring out in a car accident a few weeks ago. So, for sure, we’ll be doing some commuting and a lot of walking. I am still hoping that the auto body repair of my friend’s car finishes soon enough though.

A Soldier’s Frustration

I was channel surfing earlier tonight when I chanced upon the national TV news. Brig. Gen. Mark Antonio Supnet was talking animatedly, was very upset and walked out of the room in reaction to accusations from local politicians. Allegedly, his unit, the 104th Brigade of the Philippine Army did not react fast enough to the MILF attacks last Monday. Full story here.

I understand the frustrations by the local executives but to put all the blame to the soldiers is quite unfair and quite heartbreaking for me considering that the soldiers themselves lost some of their comrades during that attack while some were even badly injured. Interviews made to the locals indicated that there were already tell-tale signs of the attack a few days before but the local executives were unable to coordinate or report them with the military to immediately prevent the attacks.

Further, these attacks could have been prevented if the current government did not allow the MILF to return to their camps, which were seized by the military last 2000.

One of the local executives, a congressman, was even quite indignant and did a grandstanding act after the frustrated general walked out of the room. I wonder if this congressman can do his grandstanding act if he is the one facing the MILF out there in the battlefield.

He should know that the soldiers have been up on their feet without let-up fighting the insurgents since Monday and the least he could do along with his co-politicians is to thank the soldiers for protecting their spoiled bums. Better yet, they can stand with the soldiers side by side (he should be in the frontline) and fight the insurgents. I wonder if he and the other politicians can have the balls to be in the battlefield.

Litratong Pinoy#13 Liwaliw

Translation: Am sorry for being late in submitting my entry. I have seriously considered our theme for this week and I actually did some wanderings for a few days.

I like going to places especially here inside the Phlippines. I have not yet gone to the National Museum but I have always wanted to go there and see the Spoliarium after having read about it since I was in grade school. In fact, it was included in my list of to-do things I posted in my other blog some time ago and yeepeee! I have done it this past Sunday.

Along with my two good friends, Mye and Ags, we went to the National Museum after checking out Manila Ocean Park last Sunday, August 17.

The National Museum is a heritage site in itself as it is one of the few buildings that remained standing after the extensive bombing of Manila during WWII. It is just about 2-3 blocks away from the Manila Ocean Park along Padre Burgos St. and just beside another historic building, The Manila City Hall.

The Spoliarium is housed inside the Bulwagan ng mga Maestro, the main gallery, which is the room at the center lobby of the National Museum.

For Pinoys who have forgotten and must have skipped their grade school days, the Spoliarium is a painting done by Juan Luna and was submitted by him to the Exposición Nacional de Bellas Artes in 1884, where it garnered a gold medal. At a time, when the Pinoys consider themselves as nobodies with much help from their Spanish conquistadores, the said painting showed to Pinoys have the “smarts”; more than we know and more than our colonizers would let on.

For every Pinoy, the Spoliarium should be a must-see, to remind us that we can be really great ever since a long time ago if only majority of us have the discipline and the will to do the right thing.

La.Pi.S#5 Crunchy

Crunchy Chicharon (deep fried porkskin) is a very popular Pinoy snack food and almost always, part of the drinking sessions of the guys. It is actually one of my comfort foods. There was even a time that I had this bad habit every Sunday; I would watch Sunday afternoon TV shows alone with a bag of chicharon, vinegar with sliced garlic dip and ice cold coke. Ugh! A recipe for a heart attack! It was a good thing that I stopped doing it when I started showing the “fruits” of my Sunday afternoon dates on my waistline.

Here's another crunchy post..

I hate this chore tag

I snagged this from Abby even if I’m single as I am also a domesticated diva especially on weekends. It's a good thing that my two nieces are in their preteens now and they can actually help some with the chores.

We don’t have any househelp and that is why I share household chores with my parents. This morning, with my parents gone for an appointment with the doctor, I did manual laundry(I don’t use washing machine to wash my office uniforms), gave our 2 dogs their baths, prepared food for our pets (7 cats and 3 dogs) and mopped the kitchen area. With just my bedroom left to be cleaned, I was about to lie down as my legs were already hurting after standing for hours doing those chores when I realized it was already lunchtime and I need to prepare for lunch. Ugh, I sure miss our having helpers sometimes.

The household chore I hate? Ironing. I actually don’t mind having unironed clothes, (even if am wearing office uniforms). It is my mother who freaks out for me and so, she would volunteer to do the ironing as she knows I wouldn’t care if I’m wearing crumpled clothes or not.

Litratong Pinoy#12 Ako (Me)

Kakaiba!

Translation:

I wanted to have tattoo but I was not able to do it as I also donate blood periodically. So, I just make do with the Henna tattoo. This pic was taken when we were in Siargao last March 2008. The next day, we went to Sohoton cove on a boat. There is a hidden place being protected and guarded by the local government and the tribes in the place that is considered as jellyfish sanctuary. I have already seen jellyfish that really sting badly but the Sohoton jellyfish does not sting. Really unique!

Ayan, magkaibigan ang dikya at tattoo ko.
Translation: See, my tattoo and the jellyfish are friends.
