It used to be just an anniversary celebration of the indigenous tribes' harvest season. However, the city saw its tourism potential and started to constitutionalize the celebration to attract not only the locals but also people from everywhere. In time, Kadayawan Festival became one of the most popular festivals in the country with its anniversary celebration being held every 3rd week of August.
More events were added almost every year but the Floral Float Parade is one of the two events that remained well-loved by everybody.
The other well-loved Kadayawan event is the Indak-Indak sa Kadalanan (Dancing In the Streets).
