Pedal to minimize global warming

University of the Philippines students are trying to help in addressing global warming by pedaling their way to their future. A project of UP Mountaineers, UP Padyak, rented out 40 bikes to UP students to use at P500.00 for the whole school semester. With colorful unique wheel disks, the bike was launched not only to provide alternative transportation for UP students but also to promote concern for the environment and also, to promote healthy lifestyle.

Well-received by the UP students themselves, UP Padyak’s website is swamped with applications. UP administration, in return, helped by designating bike lane in the campus and guarding the bikes.

I sure hope this will encourage under university campuses and communities to adopt this project and implement it on their own to help minimize global warming.

I have seen the bike lanes in four China cities and I believe, bike lanes are spread out all throughout China. I was just amazed as to how they have really standardized the bike as a means of transportation and I truly believe that this could help minimize the global warming. If only, more communities and countries could implement this. The world will be a more comfortable place to live in.
