Ruby Tuesday#41 Gate Of Heavenly Peace, Forbidden City


This is the Gate of Heavenly Peace of the Forbidden City in Beijing China. The gate faces the Tiananmen Square, the largest city square in the world.

The Gate of Heavenly Peace was first built during the Ming Dynasty in 1420. It is the Meridian Gate which is the entrance to the Imperial City which wherein the Forbidden City is located. The Gate was originally named The Gate of Accepting Heavenly Mandate. It has been destroyed and rebuilt many times over the years. (source: wikipedia)

You can always find lots of red in chinese temple and homes as red is an auspicious color to them.
