It's Azarenka vs Sharapova

My friend will be ecstatic with this news. A big fan of Sharapova for years now,  she has been longing to see her idol in any Grand Slam tennis championships. It seems that for this year, Maria Sharapova will have that chance. I don't know much about her opponent (Azarenka) though but as what I've seen from the game she played against Australian Open defending champion Kim Clijsters, the hardworking Victoria Azarenka of Belarus is a force to reckon with. Aside from the fact that she's also a noisy player like Maria Sharapova. It seems that it's going to be a finals with a lot of grunting and shrieking, after all.

It's saddening to see Kim Clijsters go though.

Of Celebrities and Athletes

Condolences to the family and friends of Spartacus star, Andy Whitfield, who died of cancer at the age of 39 a few days ago. It was a shocking news for me since I’ve watched the TV series just recently and found him quite healthy and good-looking. By the way, I am not digging Angelina Jolie’s new Louis Vuitton handcuffed-purse. It may look golden but its design as handcuffed to the wrist just seem so strange to me.

Meantime, congratulations to the new US Open Champion, Sam Stosur. She beat the cranky, hard-hitting Serena Williams. Tomorrow, Djokovic and Nadal shall face off for the US Open championship game for men. I love both tennis players and I want Rafa Nadal to win even if statistics have shown that Djokovic had beaten Rafa several times.

Her Serve Did It For Her

I thought Sharapova has already improved her service. It has remained her Achilles heel. It was more apparent during her Wimbledon Women Finals game against Petra Kvitova who went on to win her first Wimbledon title. If Sharapova could just be consistent with her serves, she could’ve had her Wimbledon this year. She was strong, fast and tenacious with her plays but her services were like mine. LOL! Mine could get wayward and unreliable when it was the important time to be just the opposite. Anyway, perhaps the next Wimbledon will be for Sharapova.

Pulmonary Embolism On Serena Williams?

Pulmonary embolism in a world-class athlete like Serena Williams is so unbelievable that I thought the news about it went all wrong, but it really happened.  Doctors always say that sedentary people have more chances to get it so if this has happened to Serena Williams who is a top athlete, what are the chances of people whose form of exercise is to walk a few steps from the TV to the refrigerator or those who'd rather sit it out in front of TV or computer than do a bit of walking for at least 10 minutes everyday.

It's Clijsters As US Open 2010 Champion

Am not much of a fan of Kim Clijsters. Probably, because am a big fan of the Williams sisters. But this USA Open season, Clijsters proved once again that she got the balls of a champion even after retiring to start a family. To Kim, congratulations!

I do hope I can watch the US Open finals. I'll be on an overnight meeting and I'm worried I won't be able to see it. I wonder if there's some sort of US Open live streaming at the venue though. I might be able to take a peek.

It's US Open

Yay! I can now watch the US Open fully on cable TV, not just some glimpses and thankfully, not just from youtube. I expect to watch my favorites Rafael Nadal and Venus Williams for a longer time. Hopefully, both will keep their games together to make it to the finals.

Kiss For Rafael Nadal

Who would want to kiss Rafa? Me! Me! Me! And for sure, two of my friends are going with me LOL! We would probably be elbowing each other to be the first one to give Raffy Nadal his kiss.

I was just so amused after reading about a guy who was arrested for running on the Arthur Ashe Stadium court to kiss Rafael Nadal (source: Yahoo news). Nadal just won over Gael Monfils at the U.S. Open last Tuesday night. Gee, Rafa is not only a world-class tennis player but he is a certified eyecandy. Who wouldn’t want to kiss him? :)

Anyway, I am so looking forward to seeing Rafa in the finals. Serena Williams, another favorite tennis champion of mine, is already looking at the finals against comebacking Kim Clijsters. Sounds like an interesting U.S. Open finals in the offing.
