He Got Impeached

Chief Justice Renato Corona made history today. He is the first Supreme Court Judge to get impeached.

The early days of the impeachment trial against Supreme Court Justice Renato Corona never took my interest. I thought it was just a waste of country’s money especially when China threatened our claim on the Scarborough Shoal or Panatag Shoal. Senator Miriam Defensor-Santiago was the only one who made me pause and check momentarily of the goings-on the said trial. However, the trial’s last few days somehow made me wonder if the Chief Judge can actually get out of the tangle he got into. His unapologetic stance when he took the stand made me really believe that he should be impeached. Apparently, the majority of the Senate thought the same.

Purpose Driven Life Seminar

I had the popular book by Rick Warren, The Purpose Driven Life, for years. It was a birthday girt from a friend. Back then, I just read the book through in less than a week and put it back to my bookshelf among other books I finished reading. A few days ago, a co-employee asked around about who would be interested in attending a seminar about The Purpose Driven Life, that triggered my interest. So, I will be attending the seminar tomorrow. A laundry and cleaning day for me but I'll just do those after I finish the seminar.

Mirror Accent At The Hotel

While taking photos at an event today, I started getting bored and looked around for more subjects for my photos. Then, I saw this chandelier and the mirror nearby. They really accented the room very well. It suddenly reminded me of the Leaning wall mirror that my mother wanted to buy for such a long time now to replace our old one.

Anyway, the event was well attended by a lot of the housing sector stakeholders. Both the private and the government sectors were well represented. The honorary guests were no less than the vice president of our country and our city mayor. Of course, the usual throng of politicians, their retinue of hangers-on and the press people were there. I was hoping that the event schedule was on time so I can start taking photos but I knew that the schedule was running late when I saw a lot of people milling around the venue. It was good thing that I saw some interesting subjects like the chandelier and the mirror that got me preoccupied for awhile.

Can We Do It?

As I watch the Chile Mine Rescue unfold on the internet for the past few weeks, I could not help but admire the very people who persevered to get the Chile miners alive. Not only that, it’s just so amazing to see how faith in God, a little bit of humor, tons of discipline and some show of solidarity could go really a long, long way.

According to the mine experts, the Chile mine rescue operation was unprecedented in its difficulty and the subsequent sophisticated instruments used to extract the miners. In my own country, I wonder if we can do it. Not only the high-tech equipments needed for the rescue operation but also the solidarity and determination that the Chile people had shown to the world.

Can we do it? I do hope so.

I've always loved going in trade fairs. Not only the products being sold there are cheaper but they are also unique and of export quality. I saw these pillows during the Kadayawan Trade Fair last August. I wanted to take them home along with that rocking chair. I wish..I wish..

Learning New Things

Yes, yes..I know I don't have DSLR camera even if I'm fantasizing to have one. But for now, I'll make do with my Canon G10 point and shoot.

Mind you, am kind of intimidated with these two workshops but what the heck, there's no better way to get my brain cells juice going but to intimidate them sometimes. Fighting! Who wants to go with me..let's get it on!

Viva La Espana!

Spain wins World Cup 2010! Congratulations! Spain won over Netherlands.

It must have been thrilling to see this World Cup final I would really like to see this event on TV. Perhaps, I could find a youtube video of this game. I’d better check it out now.

Soccer is not that popular in the Philippines, a country more basketball-crazy than soccer-crazy. Ironic really, when soccer can actually more fitting for a country whose average height can never compete with the international standards. We look like midgets beside those international basketball giants!

Perhaps, we should give more attention to soccer more. We might have better chance in the international circuit. After all, one of the soccer greats is a Filipino-Spaniard, Paulino Alcantara who is the first Filipino and first Asian who played in a European club. (source:wikipedia)

June 30 Holiday It Is

Thankfully, the inauguration day of incoming President Benigno Simeon “Noynoy” Aquino III is a special nonworking holiday. June 30 is a holiday and it is a Wednesday. I would prefer it to be a Friday but Friday or not, there’s no work! I could sleep late and I could wake up late! Hallelujah!

Anyway, it will be interesting to watch the inauguration on TV. I wonder how both the outgoing and incoming presidents will feel about being in the same limousine going to the inaugural place. Probably, they would feel antsy and awkward but would still remain civil.

Interestingly, P-Noy as the incoming president prefers to be called, is the only single president in the Philippine history to be installed in Malacanang. All of his predecessors were married and this is why his sisters are taking part in a lot of activities to help him out.

Jovit Baldivino: The First Champion of Pilipinas Got Talent

Big things come in small packages. Jovit Baldivino is one small package with a lot of surprises up to his vocal chords. With vocal range similar to another powerful Filipino singer, Arnel Pineda of the American band, Journey, it's no surprise that he became the first champion of Pilipinas Got Talent this weekend.

I also liked his choice of songs. Not only they magnified his singing prowess but they also were my favorite songs from years ago. I especially like the audition song, Journey's Faithfully, the chosen song for the semi-finals that was Carrie and the amazing song of Queen, Too Much Love Will Kill You.

Shakira's Waka-Waka

Am having fun with Shakira's Waka-waka music video right now. It's quite interesting and the music beat is infectious. Check out its youtube video here .

The song is the official song for the 2010 FIFA World Cup which is being held in South Africa. Nelson Mandela was supposed to attend World Cup opening ceremonies but his great granddaughter's accidental death stopped him.

Kim Hyun Joong in Manila

Looks like Filipino fans of Kim Hyun Joong are in for a treat this month of June. The immensely popular leader of South Korean band, SS501, will be having a show in Araneta Coliseum on June 19, 2010 at 8pm. He will be performing with another South Korean group, B2ST.

Kim Hyun Joong became quite popular in the Philippines thru his role as Yoon Ji Hoo in Boys Over Flowers. He was already popular as the leader of SS501 but his quirky personality was noticed in the South Korean reality show, We Got Married. His funny and natural interaction with his partner, Hwang Bo Hye Jung led him to get the role of Ji Hoo in Boys Over Flowers.

Smoking Two Year Old Baby

A friend showed me this link of a smoking two-year old baby. It was shocking, to say the least. The chubby little boy was smoking like a pro. I can't believe how the parents of this smoking two-year old boy have let this happen. That's really child abuse and if the parents won't do anything to stop this boy from smoking, the government should do something about it. It's scary to think that the boy has damaged his lungs with his smoking at such an incrediblly young age.

He was not the only one with the big, bulky body during that day but he was the only one who dared to bring down those bulky and heavy water containers down the hill and he even brought down two at a time.

He was our mild-mannered gym instructor, Dindo. We were doing our Gawad Kalinga activity for that day and going down the hill was a lot more difficult because of the loose soil but he did his task with a smile. Way to go, Dindo!

Sta. Ana 1983 (Section:Quezon) Reunion 2009

For more than two decades, I never saw any of my high school classmates save for one or two that I would bump into in some places. This was why I had no interest in going to last year's 25th year grand homecoming reunion. But this year, the very people I haven't seen for more than two decades started appearing out from woodwork hehehehe! I could almost not believe it.

Yahoo group messages and text messages were exchanged, overseas calls burned the telephone lines, money transfers were effected (Thank you so much to Antonio) and finally, section Quezon of Sta. Ana National High School Batch 1983 had their reunion.

Class Quezon's reunion was made after the Grand Alumni Homecoming was held at our school. The day coincided with one of our classmates' birthday, Rizalina (born on Rizal day) and here's one of the videos I took.. ..

I had such a blast that I am really looking forward to another get together this coming March 2010. Two of our classmates from overseas will be coming home. The event promises to be an exciting, even more bombastic happening than what we had yesterday.

To my high school classmates, thank you so much for the fun and friendship. It was like we did not get old at all. Mga cute pa rin :)

Halloween Is Coming!

It seems like it was just yesterday that we were all busy preparing for our Halloween Children's Party at the office. Now, Halloween is just around the corner again and I am curious if we will still have the same party as what we had last year. It was so much fun putting up the Halloween decorations as we were trying to win the Best Halloween Decorated Department. It was also quite amazing to see the Halloween decorations made creatively by some of my co-workers.


I had more fun though with our Halloween Children's party as the kids came with their best Halloween costumes. The party was held at our training room which was decorated with beautiful Halloween decorations. Most of the decorations were made by hand by our creative co-workers.

PhotoHunt#55 Electric

It would be really nice to see no electric wires and/or electric posts in my pictures. I just feel that they are just so distracting but I cannot do much about it.


These pictures were taken during Davao City's annual celebration of the Kadayawan Festival which happens every 3rd week of August. Some of the worries that floral float owners have to contend with during the floral float parade are the low-lying electric wires traversing above the streets which could cause not only damage to the floats but could also cause untoward accidents to the sightseers. This is why marshals and spotters were there to prevent these things to happen.

Mindanao Travel Expo

I swung by the Mindanao Travel Expo after doing my workout tonight to find some travel tour packages. The expo is being held at Davao Convention Center and there was an outdoor buffet dinner going on at the parking lot when I got there at past 6pm. People were lining up for the food and there was a calf being roasted on an open pit. I almost went over the fenced in area to line up and it took me a minute to realize that it was not the reason why I went there. Anyway, back to the real topic...

The travel expo showcases the best and the must-see destinations of Mindanao plus some areas in the Philippines. I was able to get some information regarding our upcoming trip somewhere in Luzon but was a bit disappointed that some of the stalls closed early.

I was pleasantly surprised to see that more and more Mindanao provinces are claiming their stake in the tourism industry. In the previous travel expos that I have attended, there were more Luzon and Visayas stakeholders. But now, I have seen from the expo that there are some quite interesting places to check out here in Mindanao which are nearer from my city.

So, for those who are planning to travel in and around the Philippines, check out the ongoing Mindanao Travel Expo at Davao Convention Center, Torres St., Davao City. The expo will last until August 22, 2009.
